AMERICAN HORROR STORY: MY ROANOKE NIGHTMARE Is Surprising All of Us With Its Ambition

And why is that, you say? Aside from the clever marketing strategy with keeping the theme hush-hush and other such promos (remember that freaky doll promo?), up to the ambitious start-off hailing the horror documentary feature style so prevalent in shows you'd find on the Discovery Channel or something.... AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ROANOKE has outdone the advent of horror television far beyond even the outstanding EXORCIST from Fox Network.

Some Aren't Too Impressed, But Let's Break Down This Series SO FAR and Get Real

ROANOKE started off in beautiful fashion as a horror documentary. We loved it. It broke a mold and developed a brand-new one. But then the show threw a big twist in there, going into reality show mode with something reminiscent of that film sensation you might've heard of, GRAVE
ENCOUNTERS and GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 2 where we see footage of the development of a brand-new series based on the original documentary (bear in mind, this is all part of the AHS: ROANOKE story line!).

Called "Return to Roanoke: 3 Days in Hell." Also very clever. So it's a show about a show within the real show. Wow, you're making my head spin, Murphy.

That spurred even more interest into the development, because here we have a chronology that doesn't fit the linear mold at all. What do we expect? We don't know. And to make it even better....

They Threw In Yet Another Well-Known Horror Sub-Genre!

Let's just say "3 Days in Hell" utterly failed miserably for good reason. Because that damn house is a hellhole of evil. Duh.

But let's switch gears here, and POV -- and now we're doing found footage with Taissa Farmiga and head cams, discovering the horror that is "3 Days in Hell," and we're getting to see it in true found-footage format, a la something out of V/H/S/ or the horror short mentality sweeping the genre.

So we now have a show on a show about a show in a show!

Pure Genius, AMERICAN HORROR STORY. Pure Genius.

My only worry is this: what in the HELL are they going to do with the SEVENTH season? They've got to rack their brains on that one....

Potentially very good. See below. It turns out that the announcement is official according to the Carrie Bradshaw of the Sanderson bunch (Sarah Jessica Parker): there will be a "Hocus Pocus" sequel, premiering on Disney+.
