More Importantly, and This Point Will Come From Left Field -- Netflix, of All Mediums, Has Earned CASTLEVANIA the Crown of Superiority for One Good Reason:
If you hadn't noticed, one wicked dark and intense anime-style series on Netflix by the name of, you guessed it, Castlevania, has sweeped the streaming universe by storm for good reason: that series (which agonizingly is just four episodes long!) happens to be the first video game adaptation to receive a current "fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes. Hell, yeah.
For those who aren't familiar with Rotten Tomatoes, that's the site grading TV series' and films with ratings. A "fresh" score is a rating where a property receives at least 60% positive reviews. We know what you're thinking, though: a short-lived (it actually isn't short-lived, as a reported second season on Netflix is already underway) anime series on a freakin' vampire video game just barely made the grade.
Not so.
As of this moment, CASTLEVANIA on Netflix actually has a healthy 90% on the Tomatometer, making it the highest ranking video game adaptation of all time. Crazy.
If you're pish-poshing on that, just know this --
- WARCRAFT - 28% ROTTEN
- ASSASSIN'S CREED - 18% ROTTEN
- RESIDENT EVIL (All of the Films) - 21% to 35% ROTTEN
- SUPER MARIO BROS. - 15% ROTTEN
- And Even MORTAL KOMBAT - 34%...ROTTEN
Not a very good track record for video game adaptations. But CASTLEVANIA seemed to break that losing streak.
Now We Just Need a Second Season, Please
And faster than Netflix typically dishes them out. Something about the Castlevania brand just syncs with the viewers especially when traversing a caslte the size of freakin' Texas (how many maids you think Vlad Dracula has??).
