3 Reasons Why Disney Has Gone Darker Than You Ever Thought Possible

You'd have to be living in a very dark hole like Saddam Hussein once did to not know that Disney's taking the world by storm. Not complaining, honestly. They're killing it (kinda literally, from a certain point of view). After all, they just bought out 21st Century Fox, which means they'll now officially own the X-Men (as well as Deadpool!). Plus they did the impossible: they freakin' fired James Gunn, director of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

This Mouse Has Some Major Teeth -- Nay, Fangs

And they're wicked sharp.

Now you may have seen that we've explored some of Disney's darker mentalities before. The House of Mouse ain't no stranger to horror. They got some great classic doozies in their scary vault already. What you don't know is that they've gone even darker than that, and here's the proof:

THE SIXTH SENSE

Surprised? I know what you're thinking.... This is not a Disney film. Click here, because you're all wrong on that!

THE BLACK HOLE

Before Disney bought out Star Wars, the studio came up with this remarkably dark space opera film. Like a cross between 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne and The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, this monster of a film couples the idea of Dante's Inferno with weird robot assimilation freakishness a la the Borg from Star Trek.

You honestly wouldn't have even guessed this was a Disney film at all. Check out just one clip of this movie right here.

ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW

This film will blow your mind. Literally. It's eerie, disturbing, and utterly 'gross' from a mind perspective. But that's part of its ultimate charm.

However, this may be the only film on this list that wasn't technically a Disney film. But click here and you'll be more surprised at the story behind it.

Clearly, Disney's Darker Than We Thought

Again, though.... I'm definitely not complaining!
