The Newest Trailer and Release of SLENDER MAN Falls Flat When It Should've Flown Far

Well, flown as far as it could to Hell.... After all, it is Slender Man.

You've seen us talk about the upcoming film before, how it injected controversy the way a needle injected street drugs. I was hopeful....

Hope, Though, Can Only Do so Much for a Movie Like SLENDER MAN

Alas, from the looks of it (and mind you, I myself have yet to see the film), the movie underwhelmed dramatically albeit still as we speak making the same kind of profit you'd expect from a lower-budget commercial scream-fest nail-biter. We can say that this may not have been a result of massive controversy, though, as you can see in the very last trailer dropped before the film was released just recently into theaters:

Ehh. A'ight.

Hopefully you see what we're saying here. In all honesty the first trailer brought the creepiness with an air of sheer, raw realism. After all, this is a true story. Not so for what the film really is about, sadly, and it turns out SLENDER MAN is nothing more than a cheap teen horror flick playing for the scares versus the story when the story should've been what stood out the most.

The nightmarish icon could've been replaced with everything from Baghuul, to Ghostface, to Pyramid Head, to Pinhead, to Freddy Krueger, to even the Bye Bye Man (!!!), and nothing would've been even remotely unique about a story that really should've been all about the reality --

That SLENDER MAN was "real" -- from a certain point of view.

You Do Remember What Was Said About What Needed to Be Portrayed in This Film....

If not, read it again right here. This makes perfect sense with just how imperative it was to bring this story to the big screen with a purpose: to honor the victims of the real tragedy itself. It sorrowfully seems, though, that the story itself has been reduced into what can only be considered a 'popcorn flick'.

Not that I'm against those types of films, mind you.... But at the very least, a film like this portraying real tragedy? I wouldn't even buy the popcorn to watch it.

Potentially very good. See below. It turns out that the announcement is official according to the Carrie Bradshaw of the Sanderson bunch (Sarah Jessica Parker): there will be a "Hocus Pocus" sequel, premiering on Disney+.
