An acting icon in India before becoming a Hollywood star here in America, Slumdog Millionaire and Jurassic World actor Irrfan Khan has passed away this week. According to CNN, Khan had recently been diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumor, and he was admitted to the ICU in Mumbai earlier this week due to a colon infection. The actor was just 53 years old.
Irrfan Khan played Jurassic World owner Simon Masarani in 2015’s Colin Trevorrow-directed Jurassic World, reprising the role in both Lego Jurassic World and Lego Dimensions.
Trevorrow tweeted this morning, “Deeply sad to have lost Irrfan Khan. A thoughtful man who found beauty in the world around him, even in pain. In our last correspondence, he asked me to remember “the wonderful aspects of our existence” in the darkest of days.”
Khan also starred in Life of Pi as well as The Amazing Spider-Man, along with films including The Warrior, Haasil, Life in a Metro, The Lunchbox, The Darjeeling Limited and Inferno (2016).
Irrfan Khan is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two children, Babil and Ayan.
