Free Update For ‘Bloodstained’ Adds New Character, Randomizer; Arrives Later This Month

Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay have announced that the long-awaited Randomizer and additional playable character update for Bloodstained: Ritual of The Night will launch May 7 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The Switch version will launch “sometime between late May and early June.”

Similar to how modders have been able to randomize weapon drops and locations in other games (including Symphony of The Night), the Randomizer allows players to adjust eight different game parameters to mix up your experience as you play through the main story of Bloodstained. You will be able to adjust the goals of their overall playthrough and quests, the location of save and warp rooms, shops, key items and enemy drops.

You will also be able to access the seed of your randomized game in case you want to write it down and keep it for reference or share it with others.

Much like Symphony did with Richter, once you have completed Bloodstained and attained the “Good Ending,” you will be able to choose Zangetsu to play through the game. Zangetsu is not a shardbinder, so he won’t have access to the numerous abilities of the shards. Instead, he uses the power of his sword, along with some special abilities that consume MP. Zangetsu is designed to focus on fast-paced combat, with consumables, equipment, crafting, treasure chests, quests, and story cutscenes all being disabled during his playthrough.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
