IllFonic and Sony’s brand new asymmetric multiplayer game Predator: Hunting Grounds launched for PC and PS4 last month, and EW reveals this week that upcoming DLC will bring Arnold Schwarzenegger into the game!
Schwarzenegger of course played main character Dutch in the original film, and the DLC will continue Dutch’s story – with voice work provided by Schwarzenegger himself!
EW details, “Starting May 26, players will be able to purchase a DLC that allows gamers to play as Dutch, one of the new Fireteam members, while narration recorded by Schwarzenegger will help shed light on what the character has been up to since the events of director John McTiernan’s original film.”
“The premise of it is [Dutch] recorded these tapes since ’87 after the first movie,” says Jared Gerritzen, Chief Creative Officer at IllFonic. “Throughout these tapes, there are those arrows [pointing to] what he’s doing, kind of like safeguards if he gets killed or captured. These tapes are gonna be used to essentially keep his story going.”
This will be the first time Schwarzenegger has played Dutch since Predator ’87, with several planned appearances in subsequent films never managing to come to fruition. Most recently, he was offered the opportunity to cameo in Shane Black’s The Predator, an offer Schwarzenegger ultimately turned down.
It’s hunt or be hunted in Hunting Grounds, which allows you to play as part of a 4 person Fireteam, completing missions before the Predator finds you, or as the Predator itself.
Head over to EW to preview the return of Dutch!
