Those who enjoyed Maniac Mansion creator Ron Gilbert’s return to the adventure game genre in the X-Files spoof Thimbleweed Park have a new chapter on their hands, along with an added bonus. Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure focuses on Delores, a character from the original game, and takes place a year after the first one. Best of all, it’s free!
Originally starting out as a prototype for Ron Gilbert’s new point-and-click adventure game engine, Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure eventually grew into a fun little game of its own. It is not a sequel to Thimbleweed Park, and as the Steam listing states, “is probably missing all of the small bells and whistles that would make it a commercially viable game.”
The story for the game has adventure game developer Delores Edmund, on hiatus from her job at MMucasFlem Games, returning to Thimbleweed Park for a quick vacation. While she’s home, she’s making some extra money as a photographer for the Thimbleweed Nickel News. Weirdness and funny stuff ensues.
You can also find the game, as well as Thimbleweed Park, on the Epic Games Store.
