CD Projekt RED have announced that their highly-anticipated RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will not ship on its September 17 release date. Instead, the game’s release has been pushed to November 19.
In an announcement posted on Twitter, studio co-founder Marcin Iwinski and studio head Adam Badowski explain that while the game’s content and gameplay are complete, there’s the task of bugfixing that needs to be done. “A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that.”
That being said, previews of the game are now out in the wild for publications to try, with impressions being published after the game’s reveal during the Night City Wire event on June 25.
CD Projekt RED also took the opportunity to drop some info on the next gen versions of the game. The studio confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 would be playable on Xbox Series X and PS5 at launch, with graphical enhancements planned for day one. However, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a “more robust” next-gen update midway through 2021.
Speaking to Windows Central, a CD Projekt RED representative stated that the game “will look better on the next-generation consoles from day one.” Furthermore, this more robust update will be given “free of charge to anybody who purchases PS4 or Xbox One versions.”
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
