Joe Bob Briggs Teases Official Release of “MonsterVision” TV Series

Before there was Shudder’s “The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs” there was TNT’s “MonsterVision,” a beloved Saturday night staple for horror fans that Joe Bob began hosting in 1996. Much like “The Last Drive-In,” Briggs played the role of horror host for the show, introducing different horror movies each week and popping up to talk shop throughout.

Joe Bob Briggs hosted the show until it was removed from TNT’s lineup in September 2000; the final episode aired on July 8th, 2000, and included Children of the Corn II.

To date, “MonsterVision” hasn’t yet received an official release of any kind – Vinegar Syndrome’s Blu-ray release of Ice Cream Man, however, does include the entire “MonsterVision” episode that featured the 1995 film – but Joe Bob took to Twitter today to tease that you might want to hold off on buying any unofficial, bootleg releases of the series.

Anyone offering MonsterVision “box sets,” DVDs, etc., is a bootlegger, and your $50 to $80 is gonna get you an incredibly crappy image, even worse than what you can already find on YouTube,” Joe Bob tweeted. “Just wait a few months and we’ll have something official.”

Stay tuned for more as we learn it!
