Junji Ito’s ‘Tomie’ Coming to Quibi With Live Action Adaptation from Director Alexandre Aja!

Originally announced last summer, Quibi has officially given the green light to an adaptation of Junji Ito‘s manga Tomie, with Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Crawl) directing.

Adeline Rudolph (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) will lead the cast, Deadline reports.

Based on the cult hit manga, Tomie is the story of what happens when a beautiful high school girl goes missing and pieces of her body are discovered scattered around a small town. But what starts out as a murder mystery turns into something even more horrific.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring 2, Aquaman) is writing and executive producing, with Hiroki Shirota on board as co-producer.

First published in 1987, Junji Ito’s Tomie has been adapted in Japan in the form of both a live-action film series and an anthology TV series that was also edited into a film.

Aja will both direct and executive produce the series for the Quibi streaming platform. The project hails from Sony Pictures Television and Universal Content Productions.
