Lookout and Chernin Developing Series Adaptation of R.L. Stine’s “The Babysitter” Books

Earlier this week, Paul Le wrote a great piece for Bloody Disgusting about R.L. Stine‘s young adult novel series The Babysitter, and it’s because of that article that Lookout Entertainment has tweeted out the word today that they’re developing a series adaptation of the books!

Sharing Paul’s article, the company announced: “Lookout Entertainment is working with Chernin Entertainment on a new series based on R.L. Stine’s “The Babysitter” book series.”

Paul explained in his aforementioned piece, “[Stine] not only became a household name with Fear Street and Goosebumps but he also wrote under Scholastic Inc’s Point Horror banner. The label was launched in 1991, and it retroactively added past titles to its collection — including Stine’s 1989 novel The Babysitter. A teenage girl is menaced by an unknown caller in what many fans consider to be the author’s breakout work. The adolescent terror didn’t stop there as Stine turned his story into a four-volume saga brimming with dread and unexpected twists.”

Other Stine adaptations currently in the works include a “Just Beyond” series for Disney+, a trilogy of Fear Street movies, and a brand new “Goosebumps” live-action series.
