PlayStation 3 Users Trigger Secret ‘Metal Gear Solid V’ Cutscene Five Years After Title’s Release

We may never get another entry in the Metal Gear series that involves creator Hideo Kojima, which makes this latest piece of news kind of depressing, yet at the same time, impressive.

After a concerted effort (and five years later), PlayStation 3 users have been able to unlock the last cutscene for the title. While this might not sound that significant, it actually does involve every user on your platform refraining from owning or developing nuclear weapons on their Forward Operating Base. This cutscene triggers as a result.

A Reddit user known as LoneQuacker highlighted the achievement, posting the cutscene that played for PS3 players when total disarmament was achieved. The cutscene was actually triggered before on the PC version back in 2018, but that was done erroneously. This is the first time that the conditions were legitimately met.

The whole aspect of MGS V‘s total nuclear disarmament reflects the game’s criticism of the Mutually Assured Destruction theory, and is actually something the real world has not been able to do since the first nuclear weapons were developed in the 1940s. If only this happened in real life, as they say.
