This year’s Emmy nominations were just announced this afternoon, and we were happy to see some genre representation on the list of shows being recognized for their excellence in the past year. FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” has been nominated for “Outstanding Comedy Series,” while Netflix’s “Stranger Things” is nominated for “Outstanding Drama Series.”
“What We Do in the Shadows” was also nominated for “Outstanding Writing,” “Outstanding Production Design,” “Outstanding Casting,” “Outstanding Single-Camera Editing,” and “Outstanding Sound Editing.”
And “Stranger Things” was also nominated for “Outstanding Music Supervision,” “Outstanding Sound Editing,” “Outstanding Sound Mixing,” “Outstanding Visual Effects,” and “Outstanding Stunt Coordination.”
Also on the horror side of things, “American Horror Story: 1984” was nominated for “Outstanding Period/Character Makeup,” “Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup,” “Outstanding Sound Editing” and “Outstanding Sound Mixing.”
And the first-ever “Thanksgiving of Horror” episode of “The Simpsons,” a spinoff of the annual “Treehouse of Horror” specials, was nominated for “Outstanding Animated Program.”
