We assumed we’d never see Ben Affleck put on the cape and cowl again, not counting next year’s retooled “Snyder Cut” of Justice League, of course – but it seems we assumed wrong.
Speaking with director Andy Muschietti (Mama, It, It: Chapter Two) this week, Vanity Fair has confirmed that Affleck will be playing Batman in upcoming DC movie The Flash!
Yes, that means both Michael Keaton‘s Bruce Wayne and Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne will appear in the very same movie, with The Flash set to split DC’s multiverse wide open.
“[Affleck’s] a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before,” Muschietti told the site. Head over to Vanity Fair to learn more.
Ezra Miller is currently still set to play the title character in the WB/DC movie, which will see The Flash travel back in time and “inadvertently create another universe.”
The Flash is currently set for release in 2022.
