Because hey, why not? Bethesda Softworks has announced that they will release PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online.
While more info is expected from Bethesda in the future regarding this, users who own the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of either game will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X version free of charge when those versions are available. Both titles will also support backward compatibility when the new consoles launch.
Additionally, when it comes to Bethesda Softworks’ remaining catalogue of titles (such as RAGE 2 or Wolfenstein), Bethesda stated that it’s committed to offering free upgrades for current-generation console owners of existing Bethesda Softworks titles brought to the next-generation of consoles. What exactly that means in terms which titles get the upgrade remains to be seen.
DOOM Eternal is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.
