George Romero’s ‘Night of the Living Dead’ Coming to Select Drive-In Theaters Beginning This Month!

A handful of horror classics including The Evil Dead and Halloween have been making an unexpected return to drive-in theaters this year, and the late George A. Romero‘s seminal zombie classic Night of the Living Dead will be joining them beginning later this month!

We’ve learned today that Grindhouse Releasing and Janus Films have gotten together to present Night of the Living Dead at select drive-in theaters, the screenings equipped with an all-new introduction to the film, discussing the legacy of Romero, from Romero’s co-author, bestselling author Daniel Kraus of the newly released epic zombie novel The Living Dead.

The intro will be playing before Night of the Living Dead at these upcoming drive-in theaters:

  • August 22 – Prides Corner Drive-In, Westbrook, Maine
  • August 28-29 – Riverside Drive-In, Vandergrift, PA (as part of a double feature with Evil Dead)
  • September 19 – Midway Drive-In, Sterling, IL (as part of the Dusk to Dawn Horror Show)

All three drive-ins will feature the new 4K restoration of the movie from Janus Films.

If/when more drive-in locations are announced, we’ll let you know.
