Jordan Peele’s New Movie for Universal Pictures Getting Ready to Film in California

Announced just about one year ago, Universal Pictures has inked a “five-year exclusive production partnership” with Jordan Peele and his company Monkeypaw Productions, with the Get Out and Us filmmaker directing, writing and producing two movies as part of that deal. And it looks like one of those movies is gearing up to begin production soon.

An article published by The Hollywood Reporter today includes a Peele-directed movie for Universal in a rundown of movies that have been selected to receive tax credits to film in California. The film is currently still untitled at this time, and it must of course be noted that all of Hollywood is very much still at a bit of a standstill due to the ongoing pandemic.

California film commission executive director Colleen Bell said in a statement shared by THR, “Production activity is ramping back up in California amid COVID-19 with safety remaining a top priority, and Program 3.0 is attracting the kind of big budget films that will generate a considerable amount of jobs and in-state spending.”

Peele teased in Issue #3 of Fangoria that he was planning a horror film that’d aim to be scarier than both Get Out and Us, so we’re thinking he’s not leaving horror behind anytime soon.
