Next ‘Paranormal Activity’ Will Haunt Theaters on March 4, 2022!

After initially calling 2015’s The Ghost Dimension the “final” Paranormal Activity, Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse have been quietly developing a seventh incarnation of the franchise, initially set for release next spring.

Now, Bloody Disgusting has learned that the currently untitled next installment of Paranormal Activity will now haunt theaters on March 4, 2022.

Earlier this year, Producer Jason Blum revealed that Christopher Landon has returned to the franchise to help develop the next installment.

“I am helping my friends and co-collaborators at Paramount set a new course for the franchise,” Landon explained. “I AM NOT writing the script nor am I directing the new movie. I am eager and excited to hand the reigns over to a fresh filmmaker who will undoubtedly reinvigorate this franchise that the amazing Oren Peli created so many years ago.”

Landon has become a favorite here at Bloody Disgusting. He not only wrote and directed Happy Death Day and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U, but also Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. He also penned Disturbia and Paranormal Activity 2-4.

As John Squires previously noted, back in 2015, The Ghost Dimension was said to be the final installment of the franchise. Will we get a continuation of the original storyline or a reboot? Will it even be found-footage? Watch for updates as they come in.
