Naughty Dog had teased ‘exciting things’ for this year’s The Last of Us Day (renamed from Outbreak Day), and clearly, there was just too much excitement as it has announced a few treats a day early. And what treats they are.
Posting on the PS Blog, Naughty Dog revealed a plethora of goodies related to its critically-acclaimed survival horror series, with an additional lot of news coming tomorrow at 9:00am PT / 6:00pm CET on the official game website.
First up, The Last of Us will be getting a board game from CMON, the team behind the Bloodborne board game and God of War card game. It’s already in early development, and further details will be shared on the project at a later date.
Next, we have some fantastic-looking statues from Gaming Heads, the group behind the excellent Clicker statue that first got revealed during this annual celebration five years ago. The new statues feature Ellie as she appears in The Last of Us Part II. There are three variants of this 16″ statue, with extra detail and poseable arms and changeable facial expressions on the higher-end models.
The second announcement for statues was for the long-awaited Joel and Ellie pack, that recreates the two as seen in certain promotional images for the original game. The figures are 1/9 scale and can be placed separately or together. Pre-orders for all statues are ready now with the Ellie statues at Gaming Head’s website and the Joel and Ellie statues at Mamegyorai Collectibles.
There was also a reveal for a Mondo vinyl soundtrack for The Last of Us Part II. It comes on two vinyl records and Mondo will also release two limited edition posters. Those go on pre-order from tomorrow at 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET/6:00pm CET via Mondo’s site. Be warned, the posters will only be available until September 30 at 9:59pm PT.
Among the other things in this bumper announcement are a cosplay guide for Abby from TLOU Part II, a free dynamic theme for PS4 based on the beach from the game, savings on merchandise, and a Last of Us Part II photo contest. All of which you can find more about on the Blog post.
After all that, what could Naughty Dog possibly have left to announce tomorrow?
