“All of Us Said Yes”: Bette Midler Teases the Return of the Sanderson Sisters in ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel

In recent years, Bette Midler has repeatedly expressed interest in returning for a Hocus Pocus sequel, with Sanderson Sisters co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy expressing similar interests when asked. We do know that a new Hocus Pocus movie is in the works for Disney+, but at this time it hasn’t been 100% confirmed that the original trio will be back.

Speaking with ET Canada in promotion of this Halloween’s Hocus Pocus reunion special, however, Midler once again kinda-sorta teased that it’s probably set in stone at this point.

They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” the actress told the outlet. “I’m game, I’m totally game.”

Adam Shankman (Hairspray) will direct Hocus Pocus 2, last we heard.

Variety had reported as of this past March, “The original Hocus Pocus cast members are not attached to the sequel, but Disney is hopeful that they will become involved in some capacity. Sources say that ideally the trio of actresses will reprise their roles, rather than having to completely reboot the first film.”

The Kenny Ortega-directed 1993 movie starred Omri Katz as a curious youngster who moves to Salem, Massachusetts, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches (played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) that were executed in the 17th century. The film also starred Thora Birch.

Jen D’Angelo (“Workaholics”) wrote the new movie’s script.
