‘Control Ultimate Edition’ Released on Switch; Dataminers Find Evidence of ‘Resident Evil 3’?

In a surprising turn of events, Remedy’s Control Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version is now available on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop. But it turns out, that’s not the only big news (well, rumour) that’s come from this announcement.

After snooping around the Control Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version website where you access the streaming version of the game, dataminers have now apparently uncovered evidence of Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake coming to the Switch via cloud technology. The site has now apparently been scrubbed of the reference, but not before this little nugget was saved:

Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed by Nintendo or Capcom, so don’t consider it a definite thing just yet. However, if this does turn out to be the real deal, this could reignite the demand for Resident Evil VII, which was originally released on the Switch in Japan in 2017 using similar streaming techniques, to get a worldwide release on the Switch. Heck, let’s toss in the Resident Evil 2 remake for good measure!

Again, it’s all pure speculation and rumour at this point, but with the Switch appearing able to handle Control (not to mention DOOM), it definitely wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

Control and Control Ultimate Edition are currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Control Ultimate Edition will also launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in late 2020.
