8 million people can’t be wrong. That’s how many copies of NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat 11 have been sold since its launch in March 2019. Of course, given all the rumours floating around regarding what’s next for the game, series co-creator Ed Boon just had to stir the pot a little with this news.
Boon took to Twitter with the news of MK11‘s milestone, though didn’t get into specifics such as which platform lead the way in terms of sales. Boon also didn’t elaborate on just what was next for the title, which has been the subject of datamining over the past few weeks in regards to potential and unused content.
Furthermore, with several titles already announcing backwards compatibility with their upcoming next-gen counterparts, it would stand to reason that Mortal Kombat 11 would see that. And what better way to celebrate that than with more DLC? We’ll have to see.
Mortal Kombat 11, along with its latest DLC, the Mortal Kombat: Aftermath, is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia.
After 8 million (and kounting) MK11 games sold we're not done yet. Stay tuned to see what's next for MK11 this week!#KombatKontinues
