‘Mortal Shell’ Gets Into The Halloween Spirit With New Update

For Mortal Shell fans looking to die repeatedly all over again, developer Cold Symmetry have released a free update, just in time for Halloween. Dubbed “Rotten Autumn,” the update adds 10 new shell shades, a new mini quest centered on Gorf, a new photo mode, and an alternative boss fight soundtrack by Rotting Christ.

And, to mark the occasion, Mortal Shell is now available at a 20% discount for a limited time across the PlayStation Store and the Epic Games Store (a 20% discount will go live on Xbox from October 27th).

The Rotten Autumn update focuses on Gorf, the humongous verbose frog found in the game. Players can access the new mini-quest by visiting Gorf after installing the update. Those who manage to satisfy Gorf will be rewarded with up to ten new Shell shades. From Solomon’s Dracula-inspired war-paint to Eredrim’s regal yellow trim, these new skins let players demonstrate their combat mastery in a style that suits them.

The update also comes just ahead of the game’s physical release on November 3rd in North America, while Europe will have it starting today for PS4 and PC, while Xbox One users can grab it October 30th. The physical version will set you back $29.99 (€34.99 / £29.99), and comes with an exclusive fold-out poster and softback artbook. Mortal Shell is currently available digitally on PC via the Epic Games Store, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
