With Lovecraftian horror on the rise, director Lin Yunxiang is getting in on the cosmic fun with new movie Alien Awakening, which presents a Chinese take on Lovecraft’s Cthulhu!
Said to be “inspired by the myth of Cthulhu,” the upcoming film “tells a fantasy horror adventure story triggered by a mysterious quantum mechanics experiment. Its brain-opening science fiction stories, exotic monsters in the strange world, and realistic visual effects will lead the audience into the unknown world where the “mysterious ruler” is located.”
Zheng Xitong, Wang Yiqi, Xu Shaoxiong, Luo Yingjun and Lou Xuexian star.
We don’t know all that much about the film or when you’ll be able to watch it here in the States, but you can check out two trailers and a handful of killer posters down below. It looks like there are all sorts of monstrous Lovecraftian threats in this one, with the big bad indeed looking a whole lot like Cthulhu. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything about a US release!
