Arrow Films Cuts into ‘The Stylist’, Slices a Little Off the Top in the US and UK

Celebrated at many film festivals over the years was Jill Gevargizian‘s exceptional indie horror The Stylist, which featured the wonderful Najarra Townsend (Contracted) as a hairstylist-turned-slasher.

After a highly successful festival run, Gevargizian turned to Kickstarter to help finance a feature-length version of her hair care horror story that would not only bring Townsend back as the stylist, Claire, but feature horror veteran Brea Grant (Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, 12 Hour Shift, Lucky, Dead Awake) with Millie Milan.

In some late AFM news, Arrow Films has snapped up all rights in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to the slasher, reports Screendaily. The UK-based distributor hopes to release the feature theatrically in the UK in the first quarter of 2021.

In the feature take on Gevergizian’s film, “Everyone dreams of being someone else… but for Claire (Towsend), that dream goes from an obsession to a living nightmare. Her job as a hairstylist allows her to move in and out of other people’s worlds, but when the right target sits in her chair, she does more than observe the client’s life – she ends it, and keeps a permanent souvenir.

“Her lonely life, meticulous method and shocking secrets are suddenly thrown into turmoil when her regular client, Olivia (Grant), asks her to style her hair for her wedding.

Bloody Disgusting’s Meagan Navarro reviewed the indie slasher, writing that “The Stylist evokes bloody sympathy for the psychopath.”

Here’s an early clip from The Stylist in which Townsend goes in for the kill.
