Ezra Miller Playing Trashcan Man in Stephen King’s “The Stand” for CBS All Access [Image]

CBS All Access and director Josh Boone‘s (The New Mutants) new adaptation of Stephen King‘s “The Stand” will premiere on CBS All Access on December 17, with new episodes of the 9-episode limited series arriving on a weekly basis. Revealed today by Entertainment Weekly, the cast includes Ezra Miller in the previously secretive role of Trashcan Man.

The site shares the first two images of the Justice League star in the upcoming adaptation, one of which you’ll find below. To see the other one, you’ll have to head over to EW.

A pyromaniac, described by Miller as “the underestimated and misinterpreted amongst us,” Trashcan Man is one of the antagonists in King’s book, played by Matt Frewer in the 1994 miniseries that was directed by Mick Garris. The character’s real name is Donald Elbert.

The series will bring to life King’s vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.

Interestingly, King himself has written a brand new ending for the series.

The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård as Randall Flagg and Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail. Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Greg Kinnear, Brad William Henke, Nat Wolff, Daniel Sunjata, James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Heather Graham, Marilyn Manson, Hamish Linklater and Henry Zaga also star.

Showrunners for “The Stand” are Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore (“Justified”).
