‘Freaky’ Tops the Box Office Charts for Second Weekend in a Row With Another $1.2 Million

While we wait for a VOD release, which we understand is coming very, very soon, Christopher Landon‘s slasher-comedy Freaky continues to dominate the pandemic box office.

The body-swapping slasher-comedy opened in 2,472 theaters across the United States on November 13 and came in at #1 on the box office charts, making $3.7 million domestically. This past weekend, Freaky added another $1.22 million to its box office total, enough to keep it at the top of the charts in the #1 slot. The domestic total is now $5,592,295.

Interestingly, according to Box Office Mojo‘s reliable reporting, it looks like Freaky actually left some 415 theaters between its debut weekend and this past weekend.

Blumhouse and Universal’s Freaky was made on a reported production budget of just $6 million, so the film should have no trouble recouping its total production/marketing spend.

From what we gather, it’s coming to VOD on December 4th.

Amblin and Focus Features’s Come Play, which is now available on VOD, came in at #4 on the weekend charts. That brings the movie’s box office total to just over $8 million.

A depressing reflection of the current times in regards to the domestic box office is that Godzilla vs. Kong was supposed to open this past weekend. Alas, it’s been pushed to 2021.
