Killer Shark Movie ‘The Reef’ Getting a Sequel With ‘The Reef: Stalked’ from Returning Director Andrew Traucki!

Pre-production is underway on a 10-years-later sequel to 2010’s Australian shark movie The Reef, we’ve learned today, with filmmaker Andrew Traucki returning to direct!

The sequel from AMP Films is currently titled The Reef: Stalked.

Here’s the plot crunch…

“In an effort to heal after witnessing her sister’s horrific murder, Nic, her sister Annie and two close friends travel to a remote Pacific island for a kayaking and diving adventure. Only hours into their expedition, the women are stalked and then attacked by a massive Great White.

“To survive the women will need to band together, and Nic will have to overcome her post-traumatic stress, face her fears and slay a monster.”

In addition to directing, Traucki also wrote the script. The film is scheduled to shoot in Australia this coming Fall, with a planned release sometime in the Summer of 2021.

Traucki’s The Reef is one of the best shark attack horror movies ever made, a simple tale of friends stranded in shark-infested waters that’s made all the more terrifying due to Traucki’s insistence on using real sharks rather than animatronic or computer-generated ones. No word yet on whether or not he’ll be taking the same approach to the sequel, but here’s hoping.

Michael Robertson and Neal Kingston are producing.

Thanks to Avery Guerra for the heads up on this one.
