Last week, it was announced that Donal Logue is set to play Chief Irons in the upcoming Resident Evil reboot being directed by Johannes Roberts. Thanks to Biohazard Declassified (and a fan of the series), the team behind the film is taking another step to pay homage to the games (despite it being an “origin story adaptation”).
The film is currently being shot in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada (“Sudz”, as we say up here), and a fan named Darien managed to sneak a shot of Emmy’s, the diner that Claire is inside of during her opening cutscene in Resident Evil 2. The diner in real life is named Gus’s Restaurant.
No, it’s not earth-shattering news, but it’s a cool Easter Egg for the film, and again shows the filmmakers’ dedication to sticking to the game series, rather than progressive contrast that Paul W.S. Anderson made with the original film series.
The movie, which stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, and Neal McDonough, will be releasing theatrically in 2021.
