‘The Final Girls’ Director Turns Colin Firth Undead in ‘New York Will Eat You Alive’!

One of the better slasher films over the past decade was The Final Girls and now director Todd Strauss-Schulson is taking on the zombie subgenre with STXfilms and Tencent Pictures’ tentatively titled action-comedy New York Will Eat You Alive, Bloody just learned ahead of AFM.

Colin Firth (Kingsman) has signed on to star in the adaptation inspired by and based on characters created by Jia Haibo in Zombie Brothers, one of the most popular titles on Tencent’s digital comics and animation platform.

“Zombie Brother is set in City H, where the water supply has been contaminated by an ancient coffin. People who drink the water, therefore, turn into “Zombie Brothers” who eat others to evolve. The main character is Bai Xiaofei, an ordinary boy who loves playing computer games at home — the story follows Bai as he steps out of the house and hits the road to find his girlfriend.” (radiichina)

Strauss-Schulson directs the film from a screenplay by Alex Rubens with current revisions by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. New York Will Eat You Alive will be co-produced by Tencent Pictures, STXfilms, and Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan’s Free Association.

STXfilms will distribute the film in the United States.
