Tom Holland Updates On His New Sequel ‘Fright Night 2: Resurrection’

As you may recall, we had learned a few years back that writer/director Tom Holland was working on a sequel to his 1985 vampire movie Fright Night, which was taking the form of a novel rather than a feature film. The original Fright Night, of course, did already spawn a sequel way back in 1988, though it was made without the direct involvement of Holland himself.

Speaking with Syfy Wire for a recent interview, Holland updated that the project is now titled Fright Night 2: Resurrection, with all the major characters set to make a return.

“I’m writing a sequel to Fright Night now… I’m calling it Fright Night 2: Resurrection. Well, it’s the only way to protect myself: If you wanna see something done right, do it yourself,” Holland told the site. “Of course, Charlie’s back, and so is Evil Ed. I’m bringing back everybody I can. I’m calling it Resurrection because we’ve got to resurrect Billy Cole and Jerry Dandridge.”

He adds, “And now I’ll say no more.”

The site notes that Holland is currently 31,000 words into the sequel, which would suggest that he’s indeed still writing a novel rather than the screenplay for a feature film.

Back in 2019, last we heard, Holland was supposed to regain the rights to Fright Night, so a film adaptation of his Fright Night 2 novel could certainly be in the cards for the future.

We’ll update you as we learn more.
