Announced during Disney Investor Day tonight, Disney is working on a television series set within the Alien universe for FX/Hulu, with Noah Hawley developing the series!
What we know so far, which isn’t very much at all, is that the series will be set on Earth. And that’s a highly interesting tidbit, as the franchise has previously always been set in space.
FX teases, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”
“By blending both the timeless horror of the first Alien film with the non-stop action of the second, it’s going to be a scary thrill ride that will blow people back in their seats.”
Ridley Scott is in talks to come on board as executive producer.
Hawley (“Legion,” “Fargo”) has been talking about pitching an Alien series to FX for a while now, but it seemed the project wasn’t actually going anywhere. Surprise, surprise!
The series will be available as an FX on Hulu offering.
This is the first big move from Disney in regards to the Alien universe – outside the world of comics, that is – and we’ll of course be keeping you updated as we learn more.
