‘Freaky Death Day’: Jessica Rothe is Down for a ‘Happy Death Day’ and ‘Freaky’ Crossover Movie

The ball is in your court, Blumhouse.

There may be no actual connections between the two but there’s no denying that Christopher Landon‘s horror-comedy slasher movies Happy Death Day and Freaky both seem to exist within the very same universe. They have incredibly similar sensibilities, at the very least, which has led many fans to wonder if there’s any crossover potential there down the road.

Some, including Creepy Duck Design, have even made faux “Freaky Death Day” posters!

A crossover project is nothing more than a fan-made fantasy at this point in time, to be clear, but it’s gained enough steam that Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe was asked about it in a new interview with THR. And for what it’s worth, she seems to be on board.

Rothe told the site, “I think that’s totally the way to go because, as you said, [Kathryn Newton’s character in Freaky] embodies so much strength, power and twisted badass-ness in that role. I was so lucky to get to see it on opening weekend, and it has such fun, wild performances from both Kathryn and Vince [Vaughn]. So I agree with you that it totally needs to be a showdown of Tree versus Millie. And maybe Vince can make a cameo as a scream queen because he gave us scream queens a run for our money. He did a really good job.”

Freaky is now available on VOD, with no sequel talks at this time. As for the Happy Death Day franchise, we’ll never say never but a third film doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
