Just Like You, Guillermo del Toro Wants to See ‘Pacific Rim’ and ‘Godzilla’ Unite for a Mashup Movie

Legendary Entertainment is behind both the current U.S. Godzilla franchise and the Pacific Rim franchise, the latter of which was launched back in 2013 with Guillermo del Toro‘s movie that pit giant monsters up against giant human-powered robots. The film was followed by sequel Pacific Rim Uprising in 2018, which was also produced by Legendary Pictures.

As you may recall, Uprising director Steven S. DeKnight floated the idea of a Pacific Rim/Godzilla crossover movie back in 2017, noting at the time that it was a “theoretical possibility” that the Kaiju and Jaegers from the Pacific Rim franchise could someday be brought into the world of Legendary’s MonsterVerse. Who else wants to see that? Guillermo del Toro!

Taking to Twitter last night to comment on the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer, del Toro tweeted:

He subsequently made sure to note…

In response to del Toro’s tweets, Mike Lynch chimed in with his own fan-made mashup trailer that imagines Godzilla vs. Kong vs. Pacific Rim. It’s pretty awesome. Check it out below.

We can dream, right?!
