The World of Darkness universe has spread far and wide in the realm of videogames, with the Likes of Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and Vampire: The Masquerade already having multiple games in a variety of styles. The first VR game to be set in the WoD universe is on the horizon, and we’ve got some fresh details on it.
Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife is the first game to be based on the Wraith: The Oblivion property, and sees you playing as Ed Miller, a Photographer who dies during a séance. As a result, he becomes a Wraith, a spirit somewhere between life and death. He’s left searching for the answers to his death in the confines of an opulent Hollywood mansion that just so happens to have a very dark and nefarious history. Definitely not a good day for Ed then, but on the plus side, lots of old movie stuff to gawp at along the way.
The latest news for the game concerns the protagonist’s ‘Shadow’, a manifestation of his darkest thoughts and most wicked desires made real. It will fight all the way to see our titular Wraith doomed to oblivion in the slowest and most torturous manner possible. It’s essentially another enemy for the player to face, but one they cannot escape from. There’s a brief new video to highlight The Shadow.
There’s still other threats in the halls of the mansion; angry, violent, lost souls called Spectres also roam the place, out to rip you a spectral new one. These obstacles stand in the way of the answers you seek, and the justice you deserve.
You can find further details in the latest Oculus Blog about the game.
Wraith: The Oblivion: Afterlife is due out this Spring on Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and PSVR.
