Zak Bagans and his “Ghost Adventures” team kicked off the new year with a trip inside the infamous Cecil Hotel, and now Netflix will also be taking a trip to that infamous location.
Netflix will be premiering the brand new docuseries “Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel” on February 10, and the official trailer and poster art have arrived today.
Weeks after being reported missing back in 2013, the body of Canadian student Elisa Lam was discovered inside a water tank atop the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Security camera footage of Lam in the moments prior to her disappearance and mysterious death saw her behaving strangely; the footage went viral on the internet, and the case remains a haunting mystery.
“Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel” is the first season in a new documentary series that deconstructs the mythology and mystery surrounding infamous locations in contemporary crime.
The press release teases the four-episode (50 minutes each) docuseries, “For nearly a century the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles has been linked to some of the city’s most notorious activity, from untimely deaths to housing serial killers. In 2013 college student Elisa Lam was staying at the Cecil when she vanished, igniting a media frenzy and mobilizing a global community of internet sleuths eager to solve the case. Lam’s disappearance, the latest chapter in the hotel’s complex history, offers a chilling and captivating lens into one of LA’s most nefarious settings.”
“Crime Scene” is set to become a recurring true crime anthology series for Netflix.
