‘The Lord of the Rings: Gollum’ Delayed to 2022; Expanded Release Now Covers PS4, Xbox One and Switch

The anticipated return of the Lord of The Rings franchise to video games in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has hit a snag, as Daedalic Entertainment has delayed the title from its previously-planned 2021 release window to 2022.

On the plus side, Daedalic has announced that it has signed a co-publishing and distribution agreement with Nacon (formerly Bigben Interactive). The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.

According to the companies, the partnership between Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon will “ensure that the game will meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles.”

Described as a story-driven action adventure, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum casts you as Gollum, chasing the ever-elusive One Ring. Climb, leap and sneak your way past dangers or into advantageous spots. Gollum is skillful and sly, but also torn by his split personality. It is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol.
