An interesting new horror project is in the works over at New Line Cinema, being compared to Meet the Parents and set to put a “LGBTQ twist” on the horror-comedy genre.
THR reports that New Line is in development on the project, which comes from “Saturday Night Live” writer Kent Sublette. Craig Johnson (The Skeleton Twins) is directing.
“Plot details are being kept under lock and key but it is understood to have tones of Meet the Parents, the 2000 comedy that starred Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro and told of a couple who engage in the time-honored, and fraught-filled, ritual of encountering a significant other’s parents, and balancing that with the real scares for which New Line, as the company behind The Conjuring franchise, among other horror movies, is known,” THR notes.
Chris Bender and Jake Weiner will produce for Good Fear Content.
