Let’s get this out of the way: We already love what we see in Turtle Rock’s Back 4 Blood alpha. We’re chomping at the bit with Barbara Crampton being part of the voice cast. And yet, like you, we want more.
Well, Turtle Rock is happy to oblige with a new behind-the-scenes video delving into the developer’s vision of the game, which right away acknowledges B4B being a successor to the classic Left 4 Dead series.
For starters, the protagonists are not your typical “all walks of life” people that just so happened to be teaming up to make their way to safety as in L4D. Rather, this new group has lived in the infected world for a year, and are either tough enough to not fear the undead or are immune to their virus.
As far as gameplay goes, your characters are armed to the teeth with powerful weapons to compensate for the stronger zombies you’ll be facing. And yes, you’ll be facing off against common and mutated zombies as before. But now, there’s a wider variety of undead in Back 4 Blood.
Lastly, as was the case in L4D is the game’s replayability, which has been cranked up again, thanks to a revamped Game Director. The system will now look at player’s health, ammo and weapons in order to orchestrate a “proper” encounter for players to face.
In other words, we can’t wait. Back 4 Blood is set for release on PC on June 22, 2021.
