‘Blood Quantum’ Star Michael Greyeyes Joins Cast of New Take on Stephen King’s ‘Firestarter’

Blood Quantum star Michael Greyeyes has been cast in Firestarter, the fresh adaptation of Stephen King’s classic sci-fi thriller novel, Bloody Disgusting learned today.

Greyeyes, who can also be seen in Wild Indian, “Rutherford Falls”, and “True Detective”, will play Rainbird, a relentless powerful man who has been pushed into a violent life.

He will star alongside Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked) in the new take from filmmaker Keith Thomas (The Vigil).

In Firestarter, “A young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”

Firestarter is being adapted by writer Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Rectify), who will also executive produce.

The film hails from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Weed Road Productions.

Jason Blum and Academy Award® winner Akiva Goldsman will produce. Martha De Laurentiis, who was an associate producer on the 1984 adaptation of Firestarter starring a young Drew Barrymore, will executive produce. Firestarter reunites Goldsman and Blum who have previously collaborated on the Paranormal Activity franchise.
