‘The Columnist’ Gets Revenge On Her UK Critics in “Censored” Trailer [Exclusive]

One of the better films I saw last year during the festival circuit was the satirical horror The Columnist, which will be releasing in limited cinemas and on VOD platforms March 12, 2021, in both the UK and Ireland.

Starring “Westworld’s” Katja HerbersThe Columnist, a stand-out at last year’s FrightFest, is said to sit nicely alongside women-turn-the-tables hits Prevenge, Revenge, Promising Young Woman, and the recent Danish release The Exception.

In the film…

“Newspaper columnist and author Femke Boot is suffering from writers’ block, and her mood isn’t improved by the torrent of abuse and death threats she receives daily on social media. When she discovers that her obnoxious, loud neighbour is one of the anonymous people posting vile comments, she snaps and takes matters into her own hands. As she finds herself able to write again, she sets out on a mission – track down the trolls and deliver some swift, polite and deadly vengeance.”

Joe Lipsett reviewed The Columnist, writing that “the film has a biting wit that feels very reflective of the current moment” and “goes out with an audacious bang.”

Bloody Disgusting is excited to share an exclusive look at the new “censored” trailer in which Katja Herbers is tormented by an online mob after writing something controversial in one of her columns. There’s a lot of heavy and relevant social commentary in this one.
