Say what you will about video game adaptations of films and TV shows, but there are always those that turn out to be awesome. That’s what we’re hoping for with the announcement that Anouk Whissell, François Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell’s 2015 post-apocalyptic sci-fi action film Turbo Kid is getting its own adaptation, courtesy of Montreal-based studio Outerminds.
While there’s not much to go on from the announcement (other than some pixel-based goodness in the announcement trailer), the game will be coming in 2022, and will be a Metroidvania style game. And much like the film (which we loved), there looks to be plenty of over-the-top gore in store for us, too.
At the moment, you can check out the official site (though there’s nothing much more than the trailer and a mailing list sign-up), or head on over to the game’s Discord to chat it up with fans.
Turbo Kid stars Munro Chambers, Michael Ironside, Laurence Leboeuf, Edwin Wright, Aaron Jeffery and Romano Orzari. The story for Turbo Kid sees the world in a post-apocalyptic future, where The Kid, an orphaned outcast, meets a mysterious girl. They become friends until Zeus, the sadistic leader of the Wasteland, kidnaps her. The Kid must face his fears, and journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl.
