Announced by Deadline today, Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) will be taking his talents to the small screen, with Aster and Lars Knudsen‘s label Square Peg inking a two-year, first-look television deal with the company behind both of Aster’s movies, A24. Knudsen produced both films, along with The Witch and Robert Eggers’ upcoming The Northman.
Deadline reports, “Emily Hildner has joined Square Peg as Head of TV, and will spearhead the effort to develop and produce projects across scripted, documentary and unscripted formats.”
“We’re excited to team up with A24 on what will be our first venture into TV after having worked on several films together. We pride ourselves on being a home for artists, weirdos and freaks, enabling them to realize their visions without compromise,” Aster and Knudsen said in a joint statement shared by Deadline today.
A24 said of the new partnership with Aster and Knudsen, “With their track record of distinct, provocative storytelling we are certain that TV will never be the same again.”
Aster’s next movie will be Disappointment Blvd., starring Joaquin Phoenix.
