What if all of your dreams could come true….especially the darkest ones?
Anthony Scott Burns‘ sci-fi thriller Come True is bringing nightmares to life in select theaters and on VOD platforms March 12 courtesy of IFC Midnight, and we’ve got an exclusive clip that descends into a night terror.
Come True stars Julia Sarah Stone (“The Killing”) as a troubled teenager seeking help for nightmares, only to release dark forces from within…
“High school student Sarah (Stone) is at her lowest point yet when she runs away from home and finds herself with no one to rely on and struggling with recurring nightmares. She chances upon a university sleep study that offers the promise of safety and money and brings her an unexpected friend and confidant in the overseeing scientist Jeremy. But there’s something curious about the proceedings and being under observation seems to make Sarah’s disturbing dreams even worse. As the darkness begins to close in, it’s soon clear that Sarah has unknowingly become the conduit to a horrifying, new discovery…”
“I’d been fascinated with this concept of sleep paralysis since I first experienced it in my youth,” writer/director Burns said. “When people are in this state, they often seem to see the exact same thing: dark shadows with eyes watching over them. Science obviously declares this a mass hallucination, but you have to wonder… Why do people see the same thing?”
Joe Lipsett reviewed the film out of the virtual Fantasia Film Festival, writing that “Come True is a true artistic achievement: everything about the film’s playful use of neon colors, its retro-futuristic visual aesthetic, its synth-heavy score and its genuinely unsettling depiction of nightmares all combine to make the film a must-watch.”
The film is executive-produced by Cube and Splice’s Vincenzo Natali, scored by Electric Youth (Drive), and co-stars Landon Liboiron (Truth or Dare).
