“It’s slowly coming this way….”
While waiting for an official adaptation, fan Jed Segovia has taken it upon himself to animate the chilling conclusion of Junji Ito‘s horror story Enigma of Amigara Fault, a short story that was included in the 2001 manga Gyo. In the tale, two hikers are drawn to Amigara Mountain by the sound of voices, finding human-shaped holes that others are disappearing into.
At the end of the tale, a body-horror nightmare emerges from one of the holes…
The 50-second video from Jed Segovia animates that horrifying finale from Enigma of Amigara Fault, depicting the gruesome sights and ghastly sounds of Ito’s unsettling creation.
“I’ve always wanted to see this Junji Ito masterpiece animated,” writes Segovia, who shared the video on Reddit. “It hasn’t been adapted yet, and I don’t know why, so I went and did! Also because I couldn’t resist discovering what “DRR DRR DRR” would have sounded like.”
