The marketing for Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong is no longer hiding one of the film’s big secrets on the road to its March 31st arrival in theaters and on HBO Max, with the latest trailer serving as a full-on reveal for the third classic monster that’s featured in the movie.
If you’re reading this article you already know the secret or clearly don’t mind spoilers, so we’re just going to come out and say it. Initially spoiled by the film’s toy lines, MechaGodzilla is indeed featured in Godzilla vs. Kong, and he’s on full display in the new trailer you’ll find below. Aside from the aforementioned toys, this is our first real good look at the character.
MechaGodzilla first appeared in1974’s Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla, presented as a sort of mechanical anti-Godzilla who has frequently served as Godzilla’s adversary. What role will he play in his first appearance in Legendary’s MonsterVerse? It’s probably safe to assume MechaGodzilla becomes the common enemy for Godzilla and Kong, leading to a team-up.

Godzilla vs. Kong is the fourth film in the MonsterVerse, which kicked off with Godzilla in 2014 and continued with Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019.
