In addition to FX’s series, the world of “What We Do in the Shadows” was also expanded upon with the spinoff “Wellington Paranormal,” focused on the film’s easily-manipulated police officers, Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary. From creators Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, the series premiered in New Zealand back in 2018, but never arrived in the U.S.
Until now, that is.
Deadline reports today that “Wellington Paranormal” has been jointly acquired by HBO Max and The CW. The site details, “The comedy will launch first on The CW later this summer and each episode will then be available to stream via the network’s ad-supported digital platforms and streaming service HBO Max the day after its linear bow.”
The half-hour series follows the aforementioned duo, as well as Cori Gonzalez-Macuer’s Nick, as they try to keep Wellington safe from various spooky beasties.
The third season of the series just launched over in New Zealand this month.
FX, meanwhile, recently renewed “What We Do in the Shadows” for a third season.
