Xbox Game Pass Version of ‘The Evil Within’ Receives New Updates, Including First-Person Mode

It was in the back of many fans’ minds when Microsoft announced the acquisition of Bethesda, and the subsequent announcement of the developer’s catalogue of games hitting the Xbox Game Pass that there would be some sort of “exclusivity” in place. And for Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within, that appears to include updates to the game itself.

WCCFTech reports that the Xbox Game Pass version of The Evil Within has been updated with new additions that are not found in the Steam version, including a new first-person mode, new icons for sneaking in first-person mode, a FOV (Field of view) slider, an infinite ammo mode, new camera bob options, stamina adjustments, and other bug fixes.

The Evil Within isn’t the only game to have received exclusive updates on the service, as Square Enix’s NieR: Automata has received fixes and improvements that put it ahead of the Steam version in terms of performance.

No word on when (or if) these fixes will be arriving on other platforms, but the obvious goal for Microsoft is to get people to buy into the Xbox Game Pass. Which, to be fair, offers a ridiculous amount of games for players, but it also comes down to the fact that you won’t “own” any of the games you play on the service.

Released in 2014, The Evil Within is also available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
