Shockwork Games dropped us a line to announce that their upcoming Divine Comedy-inspired tRPG, Nadir, has now launched its Kickstarter. Lasting until May 29th, the campaign is asking for €30,000 to help finance the completion of the game in time for its release on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
Of course, there are several stretch goals for the campaign, which again, is to “[keep] the development of Nadir independent for as long as possible”. As a bonus, if you fulfill the social goal (eg. fans retweet the Kickstarter announcement 200 times), you’ll unlock the playable demo of Nadir that “allows you to peek just ever so slightly into the abyss.”
If you need a refresher, Nadir is a jRPG with roguelike elements, card game mechanics, and a dark theme inspired by the Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri.
The story for Nadir sees you control a team of three powerful, yet extremely blemished, characters, each representing one of the deadly sins. Your goal is to try to escape the seemingly endless, multi-layered eponymous city, which contains different themes, enemies, and challenges.
